I am (not) ashamed to say I’ve been taking a lot of my musical cues from television shows lately. Not just any television shows either.
It’s the motherfather Mob Wives!
People. If you are not watching this show, I have only two things to say to you: 1) Rooftop fight, 2) Renee PICK UP THA CRUMBS! Graziano. If you were ever sitting in a jail cell and don’t remember how you got there, this is the girl you want sitting next to you going, “Hey, but we had fun, didn’t we?!”
I am not a fan of reality TV. I’ve said it before. But OH! the train wreck that is this show. I can’t NOT watch it. It doesn’t help that I talk like I’m from Staten Island a full hour after the show is over, but if that’s the least of my problems, I say I have found an addiction. A trashy, delicious, curse-filled, violent addiction. It’s like Dynasty if Krystal Carrington was from Newark, and Alexis Morrell Carrington Colby Dexter Rowan was from Staten Island, and Blake Carrington knocked over banks and racketeered.
I hear some of the best music coming from this show. And VH1 has been so kind to give me and my SoundHound account a break by providing names and titles of whatever song plays at that exact moment. (Or, at the very least, before a commercial break.) Mutemath is used A LOT, but it’s so fitting sometimes. I just sit back, listen, and picture Karen Gravano deck Drita D’Avanzo in the eye because, really, the flip-floppin’ floozie-crumb-snatchuh had it comin’ tuh huh.
Rock Mafia, “The Big Bang”
I do not condone this video as it contains one Miley Cyrus and HURL, THE LOATHING. But it is the theme song for the show and makes me run to the television like the BUM-BUM sound of, say, Law & Order.
Mutemath, “Odd Soul”
VH1 has a more comprehensive list of every song they’ve featured from each season. Check it out if you need your mob fix.
